Grumpy George
Situation description:
George is new to the company and has brought his "bad attitude" with him. He is the mayor of the water cooler. When he is with you, it feels as if he is always talking about the guy in the next cubical and what he has done to offend George today. People have started avoiding him, both socially and in group settings. As a proud member of the company, you want to keep things positive and upbeat. George is a hard worker. If only you could reach him. You don't want to have bring in the higher-ups, but if things don't change they will need to know. What will you do to help George embrace your company's values?
Solution:
Firstly, you must try to calm him down. Then, try to get George and his neighbor to get on better standings with each other. It'd be good to have George tell his neighbor what his complaints are and maybe ask him to fix them. Tell them that the only way that the company will be successful is with teamwork and with our other core values. Go over them all with the two to make sure that they can try to figure something out. However, if this isn't possible to fix, you may have to make them change shifts so that they do not have to interact with each other..
